The label makes the brand.
Packaging is often treated as the final step. The product usually takes months – or even years – to create. Many thoughts, ideas and development rounds go into the contents. Everything has to be right. Then the brand world is created, the design. Shortly before the end, the print job is placed. Off we go.
And then – the first thing the consumer experiences is the packaging. Even before it is opened, tasted and enjoyed. But only if the packaging works. Only if it justifies the price for the consumer. Otherwise the product stays on the shelf. A pity for the contents and all the work.
When it comes to the purchasing decision, the label makes the brand. For the consumer, the brand often only becomes tangible through the label. For us, therefore, packaging is not the last step, but one of the first.
What occupies us: how can we translate our customers’ idea, aim and values into packaging. What works for the respective target group? What creates emotion? What is relevant today?
We develop and produce labels for wine, Sparkling Wine, spirits, cigars, Fine Food and cosmetics. Not as an end in itself. But because packaging is a central lever for brand value.

Since1921
A Brief History.
Founding of the bookbindery
In 1856, Franz Anton Vollherbst (1824-1908) founded a bookbindery in Endingen and thus laid the foundation for the development of today’s graphic arts division.
Founding of the printworks
His grandson of the same name, Franz Anton Vollherbst (1888-1962) – also a winegrower – continued the craft business in the family and founded the Vollherbst printworks in 1921. Our founding year.
Commercial growth of the printer
Franz Vollherbst (1925-1998) took over the printworks in 1950 as the second generation and built it into a successful mid-sized company.
Professional brand management
Dr. Franz-Josef Vollherbst (born 1950) joined the family business in 1984 in his father’s place. His ambition to be far more than a jobbing printer – and instead to work at the interfaces of marketing, design and print – opened up new paths and markets.

Excellence. Innovation and sustainability.
From 2014, Dr. Franz-Josef Vollherbst ran the company together with his sons. In 2020 the business passed to the fourth generation. Matthias Vollherbst and his management team, which includes in particular his brother Stefan, have aligned the company’s goals holistically and sustainably towards excellence.

VOLLHERBST AS AN EMPLOYER
Vollherbst continues to evolve. With the ambition to do things not somehow, but properly.
We are looking for people who take responsibility, show initiative and enjoy creating strong results together. People for whom quality and speed are not opposites, but a standard.
Because we take responsibility for our customers’ brands.
That is how connection and enthusiasm are created.
And enthusiasm comes above all from collaboration.
