About us
Since 1921. The fourth generation.
Vollherbst specialises in producing labels with a difference for the wine, spirits, leisure and creative industries.
Established in 1921, Vollherbst is a fourth-generation family business.
We and the most creative designers collaborate with our clients to develop authentic, strong brand experiences through labels to match. We’ve worked on thousands of projects in various industries and parts of the world, from Kaiserstuhl to Cape Town. Our team of close on 100 consultants, designers and printers are focused on producing labels that tell stories. Individually developed tools, various kinds of paper that can be experienced through touch and expressive finishing techniques combined with decades of experience and trust in our abilities help us achieve this goal.
As leaders in the field of specialty labels, the Vollherbst team is always open to new ideas and approaches. The result is products such as our craftLABEL and LABELinmotion augmented reality app. We’re proud to have received recognition for our unique products by being included in the list of the 100 most innovative medium-sized companies in Germany in the 2021 Top 100 competition. We were also named winner in the sustainability category of the 2020 Printer of the Year competition.
We annually print 15 000-20 000 labels for brands that are displayed on store shelves. Our clients are more than just customers; they are our partners in the joint pursuit of innovation and excellence.

The story of Vollherbst
Family business
Vollherbst
Founding of the bookbindery
In 1856, Franz Anton Vollherbst (1824-1908) founded a bookbindery in Endingen, Germany, laying the foundation for the development of today’s graphic design business.
Founding of the print shop
Franz Anton Vollherbst (1888-1962), continued in father Alexander and grandfather Franz Anton’s footsteps in the bookbinding business while also working as a vintner. In 1921, he expanded the bookbindery with the founding of the Vollherbst print shop.
Growth of the print shop
In 1950, Franz Vollherbst (1925-1998) became the second generation of the family to head the printing business and grew it to a successful medium-sized company.
Professional brand management
Dr Franz-Josef Vollherbst (1950-) was the third generation Vollherbst to take over the family business in 1984. With his vision to expand the printing business by becoming the interface between marketing, design and printing, he opened up new markets.
Excellence, innovation and sustainability
In 2014, Franz-Josef brought his sons, Matthias and Stefan, the fourth generation of Vollherbsts, on board to manage the company and in 2020, he handed over the reins to them. The two brothers’ corporate goal is the pursuit of holistic, sustainable excellence.
